You need 45 quarter credits to meet your general education requirements. This must include a minimum of 4 quarter credits from each of the following categories: Communication, Humanities, Natural Science and Mathematics, and Social Science. I had a really positive experience taking Art History 1 through Sophia. The course is well-structured and easy to follow, especially if you’re balancing other classes or a busy schedule. The lessons break down complex topics into manageable sections, making it easier to understand major artistic movements, historical contexts, and key works without feeling overwhelmed. I also appreciated the flexibility—being able to work at my own pace helped me stay on track and actually absorb the material instead of rushing through it.
One of the highlights of the course was how it connected art to real-world history and cultural developments, which made it much more interesting than I expected. The milestones and challenges were fair and aligned well with the lessons, so there were no surprises. Overall, this course is a great option for anyone looking to fulfill a requirement while still gaining a meaningful understanding of art history. I’d definitely recommend it to other students.
