I love Sophia Pathways. The first 4 modules of Intro to Stats were great. It was easy to navigate and the tutorials were extremely helpful. The last module was so confusing and I had to seek other sources because the tutorials were not helpful. That said, the testing is fair and I learned way more in this Stats course than I learned when I took AP Stats in high school 10 years ago. The proctored ID verification exam through ProctorU is less than ideal. The concept is good but it would have been helpful to instruct that the testing area should be as un-cluttered as possible; I ended up having to move my organization and storage items that are under my desk. The proctor also didn't know I was allowed to use the course materials for the test. We didn't start the test until 42 minutes after my start time. This was frustrating but could have been avoided with a little more detail in the instructions. Overall I would still recommend this course.

This was an extremely hard class, however, I would recommend this Sophia course to any struggling with Stats! I passed. So excited!
by Brittany A. on March 11, 2018
This course was by far the most difficult course I have taken but I'm very proud of myself that I have passed and I want to thank Sophia for assisting me in this course as well.

GOOD but challeging subject, great tutors.
by Shannon S. on February 19, 2018
I laughed, I cried, I didn't throw the calculator (it was close). Had to use all of the tutorials within several sections and work with a tutor but I know more now than when I started.

  • Q: Does Sophia accept third-party payment for tuition, such as financial aid or military benefits?
A: Sophia courses are not eligible for most third party payment methods, and must be paid for by credit or debit card. Tuition is due at the time of course registration. Sophia offers both full and partial payment plans as part of the registration process.
  • Q: When do the courses start and how long do I have to complete a course?
A: You choose your own start date and have 60 days to complete each course. However, because the courses are self-paced, you can complete them in fewer than 60 days.
  • Q: Where do I get the textbooks for my course?
A: You do not need any textbooks for Sophia courses. All material is taught by video and text-based tutorials that are in the course room, and are included in the cost.
  • Q: How am I graded in the course?
A: Your overall score is derived from how you do on two types of assessments: Challenges, which are formative assessments, and Milestones, which are summative assessments. Sophia’s English Composition I, Foundations of English Composition, and Public Speaking courses also include written assignments, called Touchstones, that also contribute to your overall score.
  • Q: How do I know which courses I should take?
A: Consult with your academic adviser at your university to determine specifically which Sophia courses could fit into your program. You can download the course syllabus directly from our site to share with your school advisor.
